Jewelry Blog

I started a new blog for my work. It's a work in progress. I hope to get pictures and other things soon. You can check it out here.

National Street Rod Fair

Last Saturday, we went to the Street Rod fair at the fairgrounds. We usually go every year because Rick (Ron's dad) re-builds hot rods and enters them. This year, he re-built a new one, so we went to see it. It's nice! He's a welder, so he pretty much rebuilds it from scratch. He doesn't do the paint or anything, but the people he uses do a great job. The first picture isn't one of Ricks, but it was next to his and Emma thought the running boards were the perfect seat.

This is the new truck he just built. You can see the back of his other truck (it's yellow with purple flames)

We had fun walking around and enjoying all the cars. That was the same day I had gone to ER and was feeling okay until the smoke & fumes started to get to me after a couple hours, so we left. Michael really enjoyed looking at the cars, running around, and trying to drive the truck.

Not so CALM!

Last Thursday, I worked all day, then went straight to my parents to pick up my mom so we could go visiting teaching and by the time I got home, the kids were in bed. I felt really bad that I hadn't seen the kids all day, so I thought that we'd do something fun, so I took them to CALM. However, Thursday night I also started getting a headache, so I took some Tylenol before I went to bed, but when I woke up Friday, it was STILL there and was REALLY bad! Ron had golf lessons in the morning and then was going to play a practice round in Arvin to practice for a tournament he was playing in that weekend. I took more medicine and thought I'd stick it out and we went anyway. I was pretty miserable, for the most part, but the kids had a great time.
We saw some Bald Eagles...

A Golden Eagle....

A sleeping Fox....

Cheese!

Ducks...(although you can't see them in the pic)

She didn't like the fake dinosaur much, and Michael wouldn't go near it...

Turtles...

And a Pelican...

We went in the late morning and on the way home, my head was hurting so bad, I called my dad (who was home) to see if I could bring the kids over and put them to bed there so I could relax. He felt pretty bad for me since I started crying (I should try that more often!). My head hurt all day friday, and was still hurting Saturday, plus nausea! My parents were worried that it was menengitis, so they came over and my dad got the kids ready and took them to their house while my mom took me to Memorial ER. When I walked in I was the ONLY patient in the waiting room! I didn't even sit down after signing in before they called me into triage! They took me back immediately and gave me a bed. The doctor wasn't too long after that and did some movement tests & ruled out menengitis, but wanted to get a cat scan to make sure I didn't have a sinus infection. In the meantime, they gave me a shot of toredal (sp?) and a pill that they give chemo patients to help with the nausea. Shortly after, they took me back for the cat scan and went right in and it was over in a couple minutes. They took me back to my "room" and we waited there for the results which came back fine. By this time, the shot was working and I started feeling much better. I was released to go home with only some vicodin and instructions to come back or go to my doctor if the pain persists. Needless to say, I spent more time at the hairdreser than I did in ER! I decided to stay home from church on Sunday, but sent the kids, and have started to feel normal again. Yea!

Carrots!

This is how Emma attempted to eat carrots. She would take bites, but not chew, and then would spit them out. I know she does this, but I keep hoping one day she will eat them! (There's hamburger meat, also.)

The Longest Day!

Last weekend my mom and I set up a hair appointment at 10 am. We got there right at 10, but the hairdresser wasn't there yet (not the first time that's happened!). She finally showed up at 10:15 and took us back. She started with my color and after she got me in foil, she had to go out to have a smoke and call her mom (yes, she smokes often when I get my hair done there...whatever, not THAT big of a deal.) However, during this process, she informs us that she is going through (what I call) a "fake" divorce. She's not married to the guy, but has been living with him for like 12 years and she was all depressed because he wouldn't give her back her cat that she got before they got together. Anyway, after her smoke my mom and I switch seats while she goes to the back to mix the color and get more foil, etc (all things she could've been doing while having a "ciggie".) Basically, this went down ALL DAY between her talking to her friends about what was going on, calls to and from her mom, and having smoke breaks. We FINALLY walked out of there at 1:40 pm!!! Call me crazy, but it shouldn't take OVER 3 HOURS to do hair! Don't get me wrong, she is a nice person and I really like how she does color, but I just think that if it was going to be that hard for her to be at work, she should've taken some time off. Anyway, this is the final result. I had her cut bangs because of some retarded short pieces of hair that I was tired of trying to hide. She called them my "Taylor Swift" bangs....I wouldn't go that far!

A Day at the Park!

The weather had been pretty nice, so we packed up a lunch and headed to the park. First, PB&J!

Then, we saw a lady bug...(the kids thought it was pretty cool.)

Even Lola came, but she was more interested in the sandwiches.

Then, a little running...

Still eating...
A little break...(check out those chipmunk cheeks!)

Of course, what would be a day at the park without the golf clubs?
Hitting out of the "bunker"

Then a little "slide" time...

On to the monkey bars! (Ok, so I put him up there and I had to hurry & snap the shot before he fell, but he liked it all the same!)

It was a fun afternoon and nice to get outside for a change. I like the fact that I have more full days off during the week besides just Saturday so that the kids and I can do some fun stuff every once in awhile. It's even nicer when there isn't anything at the house to do, so that when we come home, I don't feel stressed to get things cleaned up! Some of my favorite moments of motherhood!

I'm Back!

Okay, so I didn't go anywhere, but Thursday when I got on the computer, it was telling me that I had all these viruses. It would still let us get on, but I was afraid to. I called my friend who is the "computer guy" at my old job and asked if he could fix it for me and he said he'd try. I brought it to him on Friday morning and when I called him Friday afternoon, all he told me was that it wasn't good and he was running some scans and stuff and was going to put a new virus scanning security thing on it (I'm pretty sure that's the technical term!). I called him yesterday to see how it was going and he told me that a virus had embedded itself to my computer. Nice! But he was running one last scan to make sure it was gone and by the afternoon, it was done and I got it back today! The next step is to buy some disc's and burn my pictures just in case. I have some pics of some things that are going on, but I just don't feel like putting them up right now.

Updates: Emma is adjusting to the new crib/bed. She did love it for awhile, but had fought me on taking naps that first week, then it moved to fighting me at bedtime. I now have to tie the tie from my robe onto her door and the laundry room door to keep her in her room. The last couple of nights it's been pretty good though and not really necessary, but I know that as soon as I stop, she will start fighting me again.

Michael's potty training has been REALLY successful. He is now to the point where he's telling me that he needs to go before he goes and has just recently started going by himself without even telling us he needs to go. However, today wasn't so good. He started a new babysitter and is afraid to go at there house. Yesterday he didn't go ALL AFTERNOON with no accident, but today, he had a couple of accidents. Hopefully, he'll get used to being at their house soon.

I'm still working part-time and enjoying being at the store. Some of the perks of working at a jewelry store is that my jewelry is always nice and shiney, I get things at cost, and I can play around with the jewelry that I own. I just recently rhodiumed my yellow gold ring to look white. It looks pretty nice! I liked it yellow, too, but I just thought it would be a fun change. You can always polish it out after time. If any of you have white gold rings that are starting to turn yellow, our jewelry store is having a special for the month of May that we will rhodium, clean, and polish your white gold rings for $29. Let me know if you're interested.

Ron is still working hard and golfing when he can. He's got a tournament this weekend that he is looking forward to. He likes to play rounds of golf, but he LOVES to play in tournaments, and we're getting into the season, which means more "but I have a tournment coming up that I need to practice for!" I don't really mind, as long as he takes a break now and then to spend some time with all of us together. Usually he spends one of his days off with the kids while I work and then the next day golfing, but we still manage to get some alone time along the way.

Hope all is well with everyone and I look forward to getting caught up with everyone. I feel like it's been so long, even though it's only been just a few days!

New Sleeping Arrangments

I've been debating for a long time as to when I would convert the crib to a toddler bed for Emma. I had a pretty rough time with Michael because he would come out of his room CONSTANTLY! I'm still having issues with him coming in our room at various hours of the night (which we are working on) and I figured it was because we moved him to a toddler bed too early. I was pretty adament that I would wait to convert Emma's bed until this last couple of weeks. Amanda and I were talking about it and in conversation I mentioned that I moved Michael at the age Emma is now...the difference is that Michael knew how to open doors. Emma can, but she doesn't NEARLY as much as Michael did! Amanda then mentioned she'd wished she would've converted Aaron's crib before he learned to open doors as it might've saved some problems with him. So today I thought "What the heck? I might as well" so here you go!

She LOVES it!

So does Michael! Now he doesn't have to climb on the rocker next to the crib and over the side anymore to get in the bed and jump like he's on a trampoline! I love that she's saying "cheese" now! It makes me want to take picture after picture after picture after picture.....

Happy Easter!

Green Thumb

Ron and I got 2 rose trees to plant on our back slope. We have this Vitamin B-1 that you are supposed to mix like 1 Tbl to like a gallon of water and pour it on plants after they've been planted to help prevent them from going into shock. Ron decides NOT to do it as instructed and just dumps the bottle of liquid all over the trees after he plants it. We assumed that the plants were going to die because they weren't looking very good. Well Friday, while doing some yardwork in the back, I looked at our tree and noticed this:

Our first rose! I couldn't believe it! I guess we've got more of a green thumb than I thought! Or rose trees are REALLY ease to take care of! This is what the tree looks like. It's not much, but hopefully, in time, it will look better!

Evil Band-Aid!

So here we are, laughing, playing and having a great time!

Weeeeee!!
Tackle!

Cheese!

Catchin' some air!

This is the part where he comes to me and says (very calmly) that he hurt his leg, I look at it and this is what I saw. He was bleeding a little, so I thought I would clean it up, get some neosporin, and put a band-aid on it.

This is the part where I put a band-aid on him and he FREAKED out!

He finally calmed down after hystarically crying for some time, but everytime he would look at the BAND-AID!!!!, he would start crying all over again! He even woke up the next morning and was STILL crying! I thought kids liked band-aids?!

Walking With Dinosaurs!

A few weeks ago, Ryan had found tickets to go see it for way cheap! However, the website he was to get them from, the guy selling them decided he could get more money for them and re-posted them for more $$, so we didn't get them. My parents were really upset because they wanted to take the grandkids, but the tickets were so expensive. I had been relaying the story to a lady I work with after her tickets had just come in, and she had explained that she got tickets for her son & friend, but they weren't able to go, so she gave me 2 tickets so I could take Michael! I couldn't believe it! They were $68 a piece! We had a great time! I thought Michael was going to be scared, but he was SO good! Whenever a dinosaur would leave the stage, he would ask "where'd the dinosaur go?" And there were a few parts where one of the dinosaurs would go after a baby dino, and then the momma would come out to protect her baby, and I told Michael that the momma was saying to get away from her baby, so he would yell "get away from my baby!" and point very sternly! I bought him a T-Shirt and he's wearing it to bed. Tonight was opening night, so there are plenty of opportunities to go see it, if you are interested. I took some pictures on my phone, so if I figure out how to transfer them, I'll post them up!

Sixes

1. go to the document/my pictures site on your computer2. go to your sixth file
3. go to your sixth picture
4. blog about it
5. tag 6 people
6. there isn't another rule. I just thought since we were doing sixes....

I didn't "technically" get tagged, but the blog I was reading said they tagged whoever read it, so there you go.

These were our Christmas pictures that my aunt took. I wish Michael was holding the package, but he wasn't quite sure what he was doing. I LOVE the way Emma has her feet turned in! So cute!

Playtime & New Bathing Suit!

Michael has stopped taking naps (for the most part) so he and I play while Emma sleeps. He came to me and said "Emma's awake." I told him no and to leave her alone. The next thing I know...

Okay, so she looks drunk, but the suit is REALLY cute! I couldn't pass it up! I can't wait to go swimming!

Fun in the Sun!

It's been so nice outside, we decided to take advantage of it!

Emma Eating the nasty junk off the top of the upside down planter. (I just took a photo and then got her away from it!)

Michael playing golf (check out where the ball is heading! Yikes!)
