The Phone Call You DON'T Want to Get!

So, it was shortly after 5pm and I was at work putting away the stock (I work at a jewelery store) when the phone rang. I answered it "Stockdale Jewelers..." and I hear Ron's voice asking for Jennifer Killmer. So I said "What's up?" and he said, "I didn't know if I should call you at work, or wait 'till you get home." So I asked again "What's going on?" And he proceeds to tell me that he just had to give Emma the Heimlich manuever! WHAT?! He said that she was sitting on the ground by our fireplace and she found a little rock from inside the fireplace (which had to have been on the floor for some time because Michael hasn't gotten in it in a LONG time!) and it got stuck. He said he could see her just gasping to get air. Luckilly, Ron's been trained in First Aid and was able to get her breathing again! So scary! He said that it took him awhile to calm down and stop shaking so he could even dial to call me! I had wished I was there for her, but I'm also glad that I wasn't just because I worry that I wouldn't be able to think clearly! I would hope in that situation I would know what to do, but am glad I haven't come to that yet! i just fear for the future since she's only 9 months old and has already almost choked! On a brighter note, she went to the doctor yesterday for her 9 mth check-up and she comes in at 16 1/2 lbs, 27 in long. Everything looks good, but the doctor did find an ear infection, so she's on Amoxicilin.

Washington/Reno/Tahoe Trip August 2008

We left Sunday at midnight and drove straight through to Bellingham. Luckilly, the kids didn't get up until we got to Oregon, which was nice. We arrived in Bellingham around 4:30pm to suprise Rons parents (they thought we wouldn't be there until Tuesday). So, Tuesday, we went down to Seattle to go to the Science museum and had a blast. Wednesday and Thursday, Ron played in a couple golf tournaments, so we just hung out, went to the park, got an oil change, etc. Friday, we went to Seattle again to go to the zoo and had lots of fun. Saturday, the boys played another tourney in the morning, and later on, we bbq'd and went down to the lake to ride on the boat and do some tubeing. Sunday, we went to church and that afternoon, Ron's Grandpa K, Uncle Mike, Aunt Michelle and cousin Jason came up for a visit and we had fun sitting on the deck and enoying each others company. Monday, the kids and I stayed home while everyone else went golfing with Grandpa Smeesh, and that night had baked Salmon...Yum! Tuesday, we drove down to Richland to visit my Uncle Bob and his family. That night, we went to have very yummy pizza to celebrate my cousin Chris' 18th birthday. Wednesday night we left the kids with my cousin Meg and the adults went to the temple. That was awesome! It would be REALLY nice to have a temple 5 minutes away! Thursday, Ron played the Tri-Cities Country Club and was supposed to use the name "Tim Shannon". For some reason, he said his name was "Bob Shannon" and the girl said "I don't have a 'Bob' I have a 'Tim'." So, being the quick thinker, he says that 'Bob' is his middle name. Yeah, okay Tim Bob Shannon! Well, he ends up shooting 9 under and gets the course record, but he's under the name Tim Bob Shannon! That night, we went mini golfing with the kiddos and my Aunt and Meg (uncle Bob had to work late and Chris was working as well). Friday morning, Ron and my uncle went golfing and Ron TIES the course record with 7 under! This time, though, he's Ron again! When they got back we headed out to Reno. We left at 2pm and got to Reno at 12:30am (long drive!) We stayed at the Peppermill, and weren't impressed with our smoking room (which we requested non-smoking) among other things that weren't impressing. Saturday, we went to Tahoe and enjoyed our time there. We left Sunday morning and FINALLY made it back to Bakersfield around 5:30pm. Anyway, Enjoy a compilation of our pics. I took a bunch more, but there were too many to post!

WE'RE HOME!!!

After 2 weeks and SEVERAL hours in the car...we've finally arrived home! We did go straight to my parents since they missed the kids so much, and we didn't have any food! It's so nice to be home! By the end of our trip, the kids were getting sooo tired of being away, it was not pleasant! Ron had been looking forward to sleeping in his OWN bed, but plans changed when he called to get his assignment for the week at work. He is working vacation relief (which means he works the position of someone who's on vacation this week) and it just so happens the guy who's on vacation works 1st watch sick relief! That means that he has to call in every day to work a spot for someone who called in sick. His hours could start at either 10pm or 11:30pm. So, basically, we came home, he took a nap, and then had to head to work tonight. Luckily, he got a hospital job at Memorial, so he didn't have to leave 1 1/2 hours before work for traveling and he'll get home a whole lot sooner. Another plus for his work week, I don't have to scramble for a babysitter while I go to work! I don't know how long that will last, but we'll see! I took lot's of pictures, but I don't feel like downloading them tonight! I'm going to BED! Night!

On Vacation!

So, We are on our 2nd half of our vacation. We had a GREAT time in Bellingham with Ron's family. The kids were so spoiled, of course! We went down to Seattle a couple of times to visit the Science Museum and the Woodland Park Zoo. Both were really fun! Ron managed to sqeeze in four days of golf! Michael even got some golf action! They took him to the driving range before they played in a tournament. He didn't want to leave and threw a fit! We also went to the park, flew kites, had several rides on the boat, went tubing, made smores, saw deers, fed seagulls, went swimming in pools and lakes, and ate lots of great food! We left Bellingham this morning and drove down to Richland to see my family. It's my cousins birthday and we went and had pizza to celebrate. We are heading to a waterpark tomorrow, then to the temple later on. I think Ron's playing golf Thursday and Friday morning, so I may take the kids to a park or something. After golf on Friday, we are heading down to Reno for a couple of days and will be back Sunday. I'll post pictures then!

Finally Some Pictures!!

Okay, so I finally downloaded my pictures onto my computer. I've been pretty busy/lazy lately, but have finally gotten around to downloading them (plus I needed space on my camera for our trip!) We leave late Sunday night when Ron gets off work at 10pm. We figured it might be better to travel as far as we could during the night while the kids were asleep, so hopefully we'll get to Washington without too many problems. We are planning to get up to Bellingham on Monday and staying through Tuesday the next week, heading down to Richland to visit my Uncle and his family for a couple of days, and then down to Reno for a couple of days. No particualr reason, just that Ron and I have never been there and we got a pretty good deal on a 4 star hotel! I'm pretty excited! We'll be gone for 2 weeks, so don't expect anything on here until we get back!

We took Michael, Jordan and Jarom to some Family Farm where they had a petting zoo, pony & tractor rides, bounce house and lunch for the kids. They had a good time.

This is Emma just before she started crawling. She was up on her knees, but she (of course) laid down when I grabbed the camera!

AHHH!!! GODZILLA!!!

We LOVE bath time!!!

Night Night Sissy!

Giddey-up!

Emma's "bowl" hat...

The famous words... "I'll do it!"

Our little model in training! Look at that pointed toe!

Disney Princess

You Are Snow White!
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Pure and trusting. You are a gentle soul who can get along with just about anyone. Everyone you meet instantly falls in love with you. How can they resist? You have a pure, lovable nature that's irresistable. Just don't trust everyone who comes across your path.

Which Disney Princess Are You?

Father's Day

I know, I know, I'm like 2 months late, but I kept putting it off because I thought it was too late to do one, but I'd like to document the day before I forget it...Anyway, Ron worked a lot that weekend, so we hadn't seen him much. He works afternoons, so he didn't get home until aroud 11 pm Saturday night, So I made him a nice speghetti dinner (since he would be missing out on the festivities on Sunday). I had a bottle of Martinelli's and got down our wedding flutes. It would've been a lot more romantic except my mom and dad were speaking in church and they came over so my mom could work on her talk since Ryan and Amanda had been staying there and the kids sleep in the office where the computer is! I got up early Sunday morning and made Ron breakfast in bed. Michael helped (or "watched") and we took it in there. He ate breakfast and while he did that, I had Michael sing to him. I had been working on getting him to sing "I'm So Glad When Daddy Comes Home" for the longest time so that he could sing it to him, and it went VERY well! It was sooo cute and Ron enjoyed it. It was then on to presents! Michael got daddy a new golfing Calvin sticker for his car, but this time we added "Play Good Daddy" on it, and Emma got daddy a nice picture frame with a picture of the two of them the day after she was born with a nice poem on it. It was then on to church for a nice meeting. My parents spoke, and it went well. Ron can usually only stay for Sacrament and then he has to go to work, so the kids and I went to my parents for dinner. Ryan wanted Bacon Wrapped Chicken, so that's what we had. It was very good! I'm so glad that I have these wonderful men in my life! I am so blessed to have such amazing priesthood holders around me and my children and I hope that one day my son will follow in their footsteps.

Watch Out Tooth Fairy!!!

After several months of chewing and whinning, Emma finally cut her first tooth! It's on the bottom left side. Pretty soon, we'll be able to feed her cheerios!! Yea!!
