Medicine Wheel

On Monday, 8/9, we hiked up to Medicine Wheel. It is a sacred place that the Indians go visit and place things in and around the wheel. Apparently, you used to be able to walk on the "wheel", but they've since put up some rope so you can't walk on the grounds, but you can walk around it. The only people allowed are the Indians. There were lots of people that have hung some sort of material with other various items. It was pretty neat.

The group on the hike up.

Another thing Michael learned while on vacation. This is how he started out.

Deer.

And this is what he was doing by the end of the hike!

(I think I was telling the kids to look at the camera....)

A view of the Medicine Wheel. You can see the posts i the back that have the ropes with some sort of offerings on it.

The group. (Interesting fact: The guy who took this picture was from Bakersfield! Small world!)

On the way back, Chris built a Carin (sp?)

This is Michaels.
